The National Capital Section charges yearly dues that extend from July 1 of one year through June 30 of the next year. The dues cover the expenses of running the organization, nearly all related to the production and distribution of the paper Newsletter and the meeting in May of each year at which the winners (and a parent or guest) of the optics awards from the various local Science Fairs are invited to our "banquet" as guests of NCS/OSA. There are two categories of membership.
REGULAR MEMBERS: Anyone associated with the optics industry, either active or retired, is invited to join our organization. The dues are $16.00 annually payable by October 1 of the year.
HONORARY MEMBERS: All speakers and "Outstanding" award recipients from the student science fairs are automatically "Honorary Members" for the full year following their qualifying activity. There are no dues for Honorary Members.
STUDENT MEMBERS: Those individuals interested in optics technology and who are students at least half time at the university, high school or junior high school level are invited to join as Student Members. The dues are $8.00 per year payable by October 1 of the year.
