"Tour of Newport Precision Optics Facility"

http://www.newportprecisionoptics.com/

ABSTRACT. Established in 1969 as Newport Research Corporation, the company's first products were innovative steel-clad, honeycomb core tables designed to isolate laser experiments from vibration. They proved to be a flexible, lower cost, high-performance alternative to solid granite and solid steel tables, and found ready acceptance among scientists who needed a stable platform for their laser-based investigations.

In 1999 the company purchased the commercial optics operation of Corning OCA, Inc., a subsidiary of Corning Incorporated. This manufacturing facility located in Garden Grove, Calif. will take Newport to a new level of capability in the design and manufacturing of high performance optical elements and systems, enabling them to provide value added opto-mechanical sub-assemblies to our customers and strengthening their position as a supplier of complete solutions.

Newport Corporation is headquartered in Irvine, California, and has 9 international subsidiaries and 24 sales offices worldwide. In Irvine, it occupies two buildings totaling 191,000 square feet, which are devoted to manufacturing, sales, support and administration.

Review to follow soon.
