HiRISE: An out of this world imager

Abstract: The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter started routine science observation in November. One of the primary science instruments is HiRISE a 50cm diameter imager that is obtaining surface pictures with a 25cm/pixel resolution. The instrument was developed at Ball Aerospace. Alan Delamere is a co-investigator on the HiRISE team as well as having been the Ball program manager. He will describe the instrument and the science mission.

Bio:  Alan Delamere is retired from Ball Aerospace where he was a Staff Consultant and Engineer and was the Program Manager for a number of exciting programs.  He was a Science Team Member and Co-Investigator on Deep Impact where he managed the final development of the Giotto camera, analyzed the resultant data, and oversaw the development of the instruments and spacecraft systems.   He was also the HiRise Instrument Program Manager prior to his retirement, and continues to support the program through Delamere Support Services and is a Co-Investigator on the HiRise Science Team.
